How pedagogy improve teaching

  • Development of higher cognitive skills.(Perception, Attention, Memory, and Logical Reasoning)
  • Improved quality of learning provided in classrooms, and other multiple learning environments.
  • Improved students` participation, classroom management, and overall performance.
  • Enhance rigor within the curriculum.

Multiple approaches of pedagogy

  • Constructive Approach
  • Reflective Approach
  • Collaborative approach
  • Integrative Approach
  • Inquiry-Based Approach

Constructive Approach

From a constructive approach, learning is built and created rather than just being gained by students. It is a process of construction where students are deeply involved. It is an active process where students ,or learners should be involved  in:

  • Selecting their learning goals and objectives.
  • Setting the plan of getting these goals achieved.
  • Review the plan for improvement.

This deep involvement creates active engagement with the entire world, with its exceptional situations and complications.

While students are being engaged in their learning process, they will be affected by their distinctive point of view, cultural background, personal knowledge, values and skills, relatively teacher should consider these differences while program delivery. (Understanding and knowing our students are keywords to success)

Reflective Approach

As the term shows, this approach is all about the importance self-reflect on our actions or at that point our own teaching, and learning. This approach aims at achieving continuous improvement, this happens through targeting challenges and strengths and set the plan needed for improvement and growth. Reflective practice is also an approach where students learn how to reflect on their own performance, know where they need to grow and what to do, learn and develop awareness about their interests, potentials and skills.

It is an approach that accepts making mistakes and actually encourage learning from them. “If you do not make mistakes ,then probably you are not trying hard enough”

Marwa Gabr

Reflective approach encourages turning your learning environment into a laboratory to experiment your teaching and learning methods, test results and learn how to improve. It is a lot of involvement that leads to absolute growth and success for teachers and students.

Collaborative approach

Collaborative learning achieve the effective teaching and learning process, by getting students to engage in learning groups where each group member has a clear role ,to play and set bunch of expectations to meet. Students collaborate and work together to get a task done, to finish a group designed assignment , or discuss a topic….etc..

Learning becomes more effective when the impute of multiple learners with different abilities ,potentials ,social backgrounds and skills work together. through this very unique learning experience, they understand that each one matters, each role acts a part of the big puzzle, where they start to build stronger relationships amongst their peers. This approach aims  at enhancing and strengthen critical thinking, problem solving, decision making , and learning and writing skills through interaction and interpersonal engagement.

Integrative Approach

It is connecting ,joining and finding the connections between what is being taught in class, and real-life situations.(This connection makes learning an unforgettable learning experience that lasts for a life time)It is an approach where reflective and metacognitive skills are merged for effective results. Learners get the chance to use  their previous knowledge, skills, and experience  to gain knew ones. (Students should be given the chance ,through special designed assignments to reflect on ,evaluate their own learning)

Inquiry-Based Approach

This unique approach encourages students  to ask questions, bring ideas and topics for open discussions, set  learning experiments to prove hypothesis .Students are engaged in a learning environment where they can speak their thoughts out, share their findings, about learning topics with their peers and enjoy learning rather than do learning..Inquirybased approach enhances the learners` ability to question and interact with different materials at the learning environment.

Types of Inquiry based approach are:

  • Confirmed Level: Totally designed, directed and followed up by the teachers. (Usually at the beginning of implementation—All tools and materials are provided to students)
  • Structured Level: Mostly designed, directed, and followed up by the teachers. (Usually a second stage of implementation—- All tools and materials are still provided to students, but at that level, they are encouraged to investigate and collect  relevant data)
  • Guided Level: Mostly designed, directed, and followed up by the students, they are encouraged to generate questions and collect relevant data needed, but teachers still provide some suggestions to help.(Usually at a deeper level of implementation—Teachers are available to monitor and support)
  • Open Level: Totally designed, directed, and followed up  by the students(Students are taking the complete lead in this learning experience—-Teachers may provide guidance)
